Global Tools
Global Search
Global Search lets you find anything in your ORCA account without navigating away from whatever you're doing. One shortcut, one search box, everything in one place.
Opening the Search Modal
Press ⌘K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows to open the search modal from anywhere in ORCA. You can also click the search icon in the top navigation bar.
Press Esc to close it.
What Gets Searched
Global Search covers six content types across your account:
- Companies - all company records
- Contacts - all contact records
- Records - entries in your custom sections
- Comms - logged communications
- News - news articles (only shown if your account has a News subscription)
- To-dos - open and completed tasks
The All tab returns the top 3 results from each type so you can see at a glance whether what you're looking for is a company, contact, or something else. Switch to a specific tab to get up to 10 results from that type alone.
Draft records are not included in results.
Navigating Results
- Arrow keys - move up and down through results
- Enter - open the highlighted result
- Tab / Shift+Tab - cycle forward and backward through the content type tabs
- Esc - close the modal
Click any result to go straight to it.
On Mobile
On smaller screens the modal opens full-screen. The tab strip becomes a dropdown at the top - pick the content type you want from the list, then search within it.
Tips
Start typing immediately. Results appear as you type - there's no need to press Enter to search.
Use the type tabs for focused searches. If you know you're looking for a record rather than a company, switching to the Records tab gives you more results and removes the noise.
It searches your current account. Results are scoped to whichever account you're logged into. Switch accounts if you're not finding what you expect.
